Default Upgrades

So my 01 1500 3.9L 2wd has got a number of new parts in the last few months.

Plenum repair, timing change, water pump, thermostat, coolant hoses, belt, idler, tensioner, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, shocks, pcv, and 14x3 air cleaner.

I have a little over 500 dollars that I just got that I didn't know I was getting so I want to buy some more stuff. I am thinking a SCT tuner and something else. What do the mass suggest? I am willing to between 550 and 600.

SCT and cat-back. Hands-down the most bang for the buck.

How well has an SCT done for a 3.9 anyways? That'd be interesting to see. As far as what to buy.. What do you want to do with the truck?

It is a DD that is mainly driven in town. It does see highway time occasionally and it does get driven on dirt once in a while. I will occasionally pull a wave runner around and do short pulls with a car hauler.

But again it is a DD so I need it to be reliable. I am just interested to see if I can get alittle more umpf out of her around town and while cruising down the highway.

Zman, why do you recommend the superchips over the SCT. Is it because I have a 3.9L, the lack of mods I have done, or just that the superchips is better for my application.

Because it is cheaper and you said "I am just interested to see if I can get alittle more umpf out of her "

I was thinking about the hs1.7rr but was also thinking headers. Basically by the time I am done bolt stuff on I want to have done everything besides a Cam since they are really expensive for the v6s. I don't want to free the exhaust up to much and increase the exhaust velocity to the point it is actually robbing low end, and it should be fairly free since the exhaust setups are the same from the cat all the way back between the v6s and v8s.

Don't waste your money on headers.
