Hello all,
I have a 1999 Dodge 3/4 Ton 4X4 crew cab that I did some trading for and have a weird prolblem I been trying to chase down. The truck starts fine and runs with no issues, but once in a while when I go to restart it after its been running it will just crank over and not start. The engine spins very fast and sounds like it has no spark at all when this happens. Usually I can let the truck sit a while and it will then start again. I have noticed that this never happens when I start the truck for the first time, only after it has ran for a while and then try to restart. The other day it did this and it took an hour until the truck would restart. Yesterday, it only took a minute and it restarted. I am very confused as to what the problem is here. I was told by a mechanic that he thought it had something to do with the factory security system. Another mechanic said it sounded like the ignition switch had a short. Anyone had a similar issue or any advice what to check before I start throwing money at this thing? Is there a way to disable the factory security system?
Thanks in advance!
