Ok i have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 v6 5-speed, 2 wheel drive. I am about to buy a 318 from a scrap yard to drop into it, the scrap truck runs and is full. what exactly will i need to do the swap? obviously the motor and wire harness but other thatn that could someone give me a list of parts i need to get when i go? i think the doner truck is automatic trans, will the ecu from the auto work on my 5-speed trans?

 

The bellhousing bolt pattern is different between the six, and the eight.

The wiring harness is dramatically different, and also different from automatic, to manual.

The PCM from the six will not work. At all.

You need the engine, trans (or, at least, the bellhousing) underhood wiring harness, pcm, probably engine mounts, and numerous other bits and bobs from a truck that has the driveline you want.
