Question 2001 2500 Ram, is this a good deal?

Howdy. I'm not officially a Dodge owner yet but I'm very interested in a 2001 2500 SLT Laramie Edition, 2WD long bed Ram. It has 122K mi and has the 8.0 V10 motor. The truck is in really good condition and runs/drives well. The body has some very minor scratches etc, just about what you would expect on a 9yo truck. The motor sounds good and there are no leaks anywhere. The consumer site KBB value is around 6200 and he's asking 6000. I'm thinking of offering 5000 and will go to 5500. Does this sound like a decent deal to you current Ram owners? Thanks in advance!

The one thing we always tell everyone is to watch the trans. The v10 is also a gas guzzeler although being a 2wd does help out a little bit. Go back through kbb and see what the trade in value is and work from there.

The v10 should have the better tranny 47RE and as for the mileage,
I thought mine sucked till I saw what the v8 mag owners were getting.
10-12 mpg on mine while in 2wd ain't all that bad LOL.
sounds like a decent price to me.

OK, NOW I'm officially a Dodge owner. Thanks guys for the replies. VEETEN, the guy I bought it from told me he researched the tranny prior to buying the truck and said it has the heavier duty trans/rear end that Dodge used in the one ton of the same year model. Anyways, I like the truck after a full day of driving...the V10 has a very nice and distinctive exhaust note.
Thanks again, Nick
