Default Flowmaster and new tires

My new to me 1999 Ram had a "rumble" when I bought it, I found out why. A fist sized hole on the top of the muffler that wasn't visible from underneath. I was in the market for new muffler anyways, and I got a used Flowmaster 70 Series from one of my son's friends who said it was "too quiet" on his 2007 Ford F250. A few adapters from the local auto parts store to go from 2.5" to 3" pipe, a coupla welds and I got a new muffler. It IS NICE AND QUIET with just a little rumble.

I am also going to the local tire store at 1330 to have some new rubber put on. The Michelins that are on the truck now scare the crap outta me. I opted for Mastercraft AT2s in the P245/75-16 for around $540 for mount, balance, disposal, etc.

My truck sees only about 4,000 miles a year. The rest of the time I am on my motorcycle.

Now do a search here for "plenum". Before you spend any more money.

I've read quite a bit on this forum over the last few months. I've read all about the plenum. My buddy has an intake manifold that he is going to give me, so I will do the plenum fix on that manifold and hopefully lessen the amount of down time on the truck. At the moment I don't have a problem with the plenum, however there was a problem with the PCV valve.

I've also done change plugs and wires, added a Spectre air filter, oil change, a few tie rod ends, unstuck the quad cab door, fixed all the latches on the truck box and bought a fancy Dodge steering wheel cover. My best friend has an entire CAI on his ride and we are going to swap my factory setup for a few weeks to see if the CAI makes any difference in MPG.

I am on a quest to pick up a few more MPG. I want to try to go from 11 MPG to 16 MPG for as cheaply as possible.

Any mods that I do will be to free up or make low - mid range power, AND they will be as cheap as possible. I've been lookin' at some cheap eBay headers and an eFan.

I live in South Western PA, about 15 miles from Pittsburgh, so our terrain is mostly hills.

The new tires ride like a dream.
