Default Interesting find for those that want different valve covers

I believe this has been discussed in the past, but I have never seen someone actually do it. LA valve covers on a 318/360 Magnum.

Just thought I would post up this link, it maybe helpful to someone who is interested in new valve covers but doesn't want to spend the $200 on Mopar performance ones.

You can expect them to leak, quite a few have done it in the distant past.
Cant remember a single one that could stop them from leaking

well I am going to buy gaskets for a 1990 318 and cover both sides with high temp rtv.
PS: I have less than $30 in the valve covers

stupid question follows:

why place them upside down, take a magnum gasket and lay it on the sealing surface, mark the missing holes- and tap those rascals? Am I missing something here?

Always wondered the same but take another look at the pic. The holes are more inner than the flange.

Because if you look at the valve covers, you'll see the mounting holes have provisions in the covers and it's not as easy as just drilling the holes.

Yeah I am not saying I am going to do it, but it seems like it worked for the people in the article. I think the key is to lay the 1/4" bead of high temp silicone. Could be wrong though.
