hey guys. im going to be replacing my front o2 sensor this week and i have a couple questions. how hard is it to get a wrench on it, and whats the best way to get it out? all help is appreciated.
First, reach up to the top of the trans and blindly disconnect the plug (look at the new one and that will give you some reference as far as how it's clipped together). Second, start the motor and let it heat up for a few minutes, then shut it down. Third, use a 7/8" combination wrench(or 22mm IIRC) or an o2 sensor socket to remove. 4th, install new o2, wait for the exhaust to cool down, so you can blindly reinstall the elec. plug without getting burned from the hot pipe.
its already disconnected. when me and my buddy pulled the trans the wires got ripped out some how.. thought i had all the wires out of the way but apparently i didnt. i just dont want to spend all day trying to get the sensor out.
mine came out easy with a big wrench, whatever size it is.
soaked it with pb blaster or similar penetrating oil.
+1 on check your plug. there's round and square.
i have a whole can of pb blaster, so im good to go on that. i crawled under the truck today to take a look and noticed that the tranny is kinda in the way. how did you manage to get around the tranny?
You can reach up, around and above (almost blindly, as others stated) and connect/disconnect it. Just follow the wires with your fingers, unless you tore something up, you should find the connectors.
