Was wondering if anyone knew if you could add on a computer on the ceiling that did the mpg and direction. Does this just plug into any truck or is it prebuilt in and can not be added on

curious about this too,maybe we can get someone to drop the panel and take a picture of their wiring, if its identical should work..

 

i took my panel off the other day to fix my light. i didnt see any other wires up there for it. Im sure you can get the semsers and put them in some how.

 

well if it's anything like the 3rd gen then it is very doable. I did it on my third gen. Search the third gen section for Overhead Console Install. The wires aren't run up there but on the 3rd gen it's only 4 wires. Constant power, switched power, overhead light controller, and PCI BUS. All the info displayed on that unit comes from the PCI BUS which is a wire running to the diagnostic port on the truck under the dash. The only extranious sensor that might not be there is the temp sensor... to look for this simply open your hood and look underneath near the front. It will look like a couple wires are deadended into a plug cap. It is really a simple install.
