Exclamation Need Help For Choosing The Right Gasket

As you all know zman17 was right. My plenum gasket was blowing. I'm about to go to O'Reilly Auto Parts and pick up a new plenum gasket. Should a regular gasket be okay or do you guys think I should get another gasket? If so please include a link to the plenum gasket you think I should use.

Thanks

Everyone seems to like Felpro gaskets best. They should have them at your autoparts store. I assume you are not going to use the Hughes racing plenum fix?http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...2&partid=26190

I can't afford that one. I'm leaving for basic training for the Air Force Nov. 8. What causes the plenum gasket to blow?

Poorly designed intake. The stock plenum plate is steel, the intake is aluminum, the metals expand and contract and eventually the strong vacuum of the motor forces the gasket out. You can get by using a new gasket and hope it lasts another couple of years.

Not that I know of. Just off the top of my head, you need the plenum gasket, intake gasket, new intake bolts, rtv sealant, and a gasket scraper with parts cleaner. Than, you really should seafoam the truck and change the front o2 sensor. I did the hughes racing kit and I think my parts list was just at $280 for everything. I also did a full tuneup and changed my radiator hoses and put 180 t-stat in.

Anyone want to donate to a poor kid who just quit his job, because he is leaving for the Air Force soon? LOL

Okay guys. I just ordered the Hughes Kit. If this thing doesn't work I'll be so pissed.

Vehicles are no fun sometimes. If you just buy the gaskets, I would think you could fix it much cheaper. Still would need new intake bolts. I think intake bolts are only good once since they stretch when you torque them. Maybe hughes would give you a discount for being in the service?

Seems like no one gives discounts to service people anymore.
