Idle speed problem
Well if I was you and I still had the receipt for the IAC, I'd bring it back and get a new one. But this time disconnect the neg battery cable. Atleast it could/can be eliminated as the problem, if it's not a cheap one.
Hi all-
I figured one of my issues out today. Pulled my throttle body off, it was nasty. Almost made me wonder if my air filter was doing its job. When I pulled the IAC I cant believe it worked for as long as it did. The springy thing was caked and stuck in one position.( I really dont know if its supposed to move or not). The cone shaped area where it sat in the throttle body was caked. It took me about a 1/2 hour just to get that clean with throttle body cleaner and a rag. I installed a new TPS that I had in the glove box just because I had it. It now idles like a top. (notice I didnt say run.) I still am sure I have a vacuum leak somewhere. Just didnt have the time this morning before work to find it.
Thanks to all and good luck.

I have the receipt. I will change it tomorrow. Thank's a lot
what does the scan tool say for the iac reading? coming from someone who works in parts, i would be skeptical to give you a new one on the basis on which you hope to warranty exchange the current one.
The scan tool said from the beginning "Idle control malfunction" code P0505. I always buy all my parts in that store. I'm pretty sure they will change the part
Drove my truck for several miles without kick it. Everything perfect. I kick it a couple of times and the problem comeback agai.
Went to the parts store.New IAC !!!! Carefully replaced. Negative wire of battery removed. NO IDLE AT ALL!! Learning trip, no idle at all again. No way to stay on without my foot on pedal.
I removed the hose from the PCV valve and let it hanging. Now works OK. What's wrong here??? The PCV?

Sorry, is working only if I remove the hose from the PCV and let the intake free. If I put the PCV in the hose again then the engine dies. Looks like the PCV is clogged and don't let the air enter in the intake BUT...question: Should the IAC open in this case to let the air gets into the throtle body??? Is bad the PCV? Should be working with a bad PCV?
I heard the check ball rattle around after I cleaned with carburetor cleaner BUT when I put it back to the hose even if I did not conect to the cylinder head , then the engine dies. I will buy a new one tomorrow but my question is if the IAC should open in this case to maintain the engine running??? Somebody knows?
As I thought yesterday, when I installed the new PCV valve, the engine dies again. IAC wasn't opened. I was reading the install sheet instructions for the IAC and they said that the distance from the body to the head of the IAC can't be greater than 1 1/8 inches. If so, the head will be stucked with the throtle body and will be unable to move. They said this lenght can be adjusted. I did it and now I have idle again, BUT still code P0505 is present.
