Question Water leak on passenger side floor.

I still can't find where the water is coming from on my passenger side floor. Sealed the third brake light and floor is still wet after it rained. Seems to be coming from somewhere on the firewall. I remember a post about some seam on the firewall needing sealed but can't find the thread. I had someone pour water all over the doors and front windshield and cannot find anywhere it is coming in from. It is definitely water and not antifreeze. It has no odor and truck wasn't driven and the ac was not used. Any ideas?

It can also leak at the rubber roof seam where it meets the rear window gasket.

I posted this yesterday for someone that had water on the driver side. Had a bunch of rain last night and still dry!: Mine was the passenger side. I resealed my 3rd brake light even though it looked ok and still had a leak. Lifted the rear seat and pulled carpet + sidepanel away. Started spraying water from brake light and worked rear window gasket toward passenger side. I sprayed a little, checked for water, sprayed further, etc. (no helper to watch for water with a flashlight!). Water was coming in at the corner bend of the rear window seal. When checking with the light, I could see water coming down behind the jack storage area. I think there is some black "putty like" material in there that broke down over the years. I put in some silicone, should do the trick.

Hey Danski, I just got my 'new' 1998 quad cab 1500 and find there is water on the floor on the passenger side too. Just curious if your fix worked. Also was the water UNDER the passenger seat too?

My leak: There is no coolant, The AC drain line is 'snaked' and I double checked the fan line, which WAS not connected (little black rubber line with a 90 degree bend from the fan housing). The carpet is wet under the passenger seat and where the right foot of the passenger should be. (from under the truck, there is an oval shaped knock out right where the water is, but seems impossible for that much water to get on the carpet) It is NOT wet in the back seat carpet nor on the up towards the firewall and condensation line.

It has been raining cats and dogs here with more to come, but I cannot see any leaks in the doors, windows, etc.

Any help appreciated.

Inkuyo - Yep, it worked great, no more water/wet carpet. Yes it was wet under the passenger seat and up toward the front. Mine was exactly the same as you describe, I would actually notice water slowly dripping onto my driveway from the oval knockout. My driveway slopes and I usually back in, so water would drain down. The water coming in from the rear window seal flowed down the back wall, along the side, and carpet would be wet from the rear of the door, under the seat, and up to the front. This could make the AC drain suspect. Also, it wasn't like the rear seal was really pulling away, just enough where things are old and not sealing right anymore. I pulled it away enough to get the silicone tube tip in there to shoot in and seal up the inside, then smoothed out the outside of the seal. Mine was leaking at the corner, probably the stress point in the seal, but I guess it could leak anywhere (or do the same on the driver side). I just sealed up the corner and approx 4 inches toward the center and its been good so far.

Well for the sake of it, I pulled of the 3rd brake like and resealed it. It had been done but look like it had failed or was failing. I will put in the 90 degree elbow on the AC drain line as that makes sense with the wind (had a similar issue with the drain being plugged on an explorer). I will take a 2nd look at the rear window, though I did not see any issues on my first look, but I didn't look too closely on the top corner.

Also the line that is some sort of small black rubber hose from the heater fan casing was loose and not connected. It's end has some sort of pushing connection. Not sure if it is a drain tub or not. I pushed is back in too. Given the age, I know that some maintenance will be need.

BTW my hughes plenum kit came ysterday...so I will have to set aside some time in the near future.
