Default overdrive off

hey everyone, been a long time since i've logged on haha. but i alas, here i am with a problem. my overdrive off does not work. when i push the button, there is no light, and the transmission does not shut off overdrive. idk where to start, tried looking in my haynes manual and it is just straight up, no where to be found. if anyone knows where to start, how to start or what to do, please let me know ASAP, i have a car to tow tomorrow lol. thanks!

I'd pull the switch to see if the harness is plugged in properly.

theres only one way the harness can be plugged in. and yes, its plugged in properly. i get the green glow of the interior lights on the switch, but the yellow light does not come on, nor does it work. i've been thinking it might be the switch, but i'm not 100% certain. i wont know until i'm able to get another one somewhere

my truck does the same thing, but mines on the shifter. i can press it and hold it, presss it for a second, press it a couple times nothing, but then sometimes i barely touch it and it will turn the od off.
then its a b**** to get the od to turn back on, the easiest way is to turn the truck off and restart it.
could my switch be going out?is there a way to replace it? i looked all over the shift *** and theres no srews holding it together, how do you check the plug?

If I were you I'd pull the switch out, disconnect it, then grab a simple push botton switch from a hardware store and rig it to work. Then when you have the time buy a proper switch and install it the right way.

It is listed in the Haynes manual and, that switch ties into the PCM O/D switch at PIN 10 for the HOT.

I'm going to list this out as it will be easier to read.

O/D HOT: PCM PIN 10.

O/D GROUND- chassis ground

O/D LAMP: Ties into PCM PIN 37

LOAD SIDE OF O/D LAMP: TO TCC O/D SOLENOID VIA WIRING HARNESS

So, possible failure modes:

* bad switch (doubt it)

* bad ground at switch (doubt it)

* bad O/D TCC SOLENOID (highly likely thus, not completing the CKT)

* Either one or more CKTs at PCM went south (Unsure of probability of this occurring)

* Failure in WIRE HARNESS LEVEL resulting in OPEN CKT (Unsure of probability but, if exposed, risk is higher than if run through full conduit along with being strapped to the vehicle along the harness length.)

i was thinking it was probably going to be a bad solenoid...but my overdrive works perfect...if the solenoid was bad, wouldn't my overdrive not work like it should?

I'm thinking your switch is just toast.
