Default swaporama

Ok I am about to swap my '98 1500 body onto a 2000 2500 chasis for the simple fact that the 2500 has the 24v cummins already in it. Here is my question... The 2500 has a manual tranny and my 1500 has an automatic; are there mounting holes in the 1500 firewall so I can just bolt up everthing from the 2500? Or do i have to measure and locate and then drill all my holes? And yes I know I will have to cut a hole in my floor, and I am ripping all the wiring out of the wrecked 2500 and putting it on my 1500 body. Any help with the auto to manual thing would be great... thanks for your time guys

98 and 2000 had different dash's too, so you might want to swap those over.
what happened to the diesel? did it roll over?

yea the 2500 rolled and its at the auction house now... getting anxious and hope I get it. If I dont get it there are others, but I really want this one. I thought that the dashes were the same... I mean i know that there are some minor changes like the power outlet and the airbag switch are not in the same place. other than that I could swear they were idendical. I plan to use the 2500 guage cluster. do you know of any other changes in the dash?

Ok on the dashes there might be some slight differences but 98 and newer have the new style dash so they will be mostly the same if not exactly.

they switched to the new style dash in 98. About the only real differences from 98 to 2000 dashes are minor things like different headlight switch, foglight switch and passenger airbag switch moved/replaced with a cubby hole, etc. Nothing that would cause you problems here anyways. Maybe some minor rewiring for the different switches but that should be the least of your worries if you're gonna go through with this

Dashes will be the same, but the gauge cluster's won't be as one is a manual diesel, and one is for an auto gasser.

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. After all of my lookin' around lastnight, I found a 1999 long bed 2500 CTD with an auto. I think Im going to switch gears here and get that one instead of the 2000 manual... simplicity i think will help me not go crazy. I also found that the standard cab and the ext/club cab have the same wheel base of 134.6-.7 so I wont have to chop anything... would anybody like to chime in on this one for me... know any different?
