Speedo Adjustment / Calibration for Larger Tires?
Hi,
I may need new tires soon, and was looking at ones that are larger than stock. Since a larger diameter will throw the speedo off, is there a way to adjust it to read correctly?
The stock tires are about 29" tall (225/75-16) and I am considering a set of 275/75-17s at about 30.5".
In the old days, I would have simply swapped out the gear in the tranny that drove the speedo cable. I am guessing that isn't the case any more...
I have a '99 manual transmission 2WD truck.
Thanks in advance!

+1 on superchips. do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT get a hypertech unless someone gives it to you for nothing. the speedo calibration they advertise may/may not work depending on ABS brake controller. it did not work for me and hypertech can not/will not fix it. superchips worked great for me.
275s are bigger than 30 in.....my 265/75/16s sit 31.8 inches...
and for bigger tires, id get new gears......i run 4.10 gears with my tires, and its a great combo IMO.
i cant do superchips on mine because its an OBD1....so superchips may be your best bet
