yeah dont have the truck to check these things... didnt think to ask the forum or drop it off at my highschool shop until it was taken to the shop, rash decision because my dad was like, uh yeah we gotta truck problem... great....

mk so my dad talked to the guys from the shop and it was the ignition coil, nothing major thank god may possibly have been from when i took it through a mud bog a few times ooops... guess ya gotta pay to play...

Yeah, they didn't put the dist up front.... so, they put the coil up front instead? Wonder what the reasoning behind that was......

Nah, they just fail eventually. I just put one in a 2003 B3500 this week. At least they're relatively cheap and easy to install.

Actually, the coil is one of the thing's that rarely fails on these trucks. Unless you put an Accel on it.

I've replaced quite a few, as compared to other makes. I've never had to put a coil on a Vortec (though more than a couple of the ICM's located next to it), and I think two on Ford EEC-IV stuff (though again, the distributor module fails).

Most of those coils have been on Jeeps with the 4.0. But it's the same coil.
