Default 4 pins found in CAD housing?

I found 4 small metal pins in the cad housing. My only guess is they are from the bearing right there by the cad. Should I just put everything back together and hope I dont have problems soon, put everything back together and just stop using 4x4 until I have some free time to replace it (like do I have to take apart everything to get to it?), or whine because my 3 weeks ujoint job is going to take another 3 weeks, and go buy the bearing and beg people on these forums to help me figure out how to replace it? or is another reaction more appropriate?

To make matters worse, the images I've found (like http://www.riversidegear.com/categor...oduct-821.html ) which still doesnt name the blasted part isn't even a needle bearing, so maybe I just happened to get some small pieces of metal there from the magical world of who freaking knows?

Thats what I'm going with unless someone tells me otherwise...

Those are indeed bearings. Might want to check and see if the outer bearing (that the kit comes with) is the one that exploded. If it isn't, then you need to get that inner bearing replaced, because even when you are NOT in 4 wheel drive, that shaft spins. Granted, it doesn't have a load on it at the time, but, you don't wanna scar up the surface the bearing rides on, axles are expensive.

Id use this from Quad 4x4 , the axle may be damaged where the bearing ride's, and this is thicker than the metal one. It will ride on a good part of the axle also.

Whats the outer bearing- is that the one inside the CAD housing? I see only one bearing in the CAD housing- the other is one of the two inside the front differential (the cone bearing). I don't see any others... Where are the others? I went to advance auto- they don't even have a record of there BEING any bearings inside the CAD.

Those pins are tiny though, certainly not roller bearings. I have no record of there BEING any needle bearings anywhere around there? Is the factory bearing inside the cad a needle bearing instead of a roller or ball bearing like all the replacements are?

For replacing that bearing inside the CAD, does anyone know how to do it, or where any posts are for it? I can't search "CAD" because its too short. I figure I probably just go in through the differential, use a seal driver to hammer that out into the CAD area, and then use a slide hammer to pull it back into the CAD housing like I did the axle shaft seals?

Thanks!

zman- thats the second time I've seen you post those pictures, but I don't know what those are or where to find them? I have the CAD and differential apart, cleaned out the axle tubes, and don't see any parts that resemble those anywhere.

Smaller one is the bushing that goes between the outer axle shaft, and the inner, not sure on the larger one.... I haven't had to delve that deeply into my cad......

The little pins are indeed needle bearings. There 'should' be a bearing supporting the outboard end of the inner axle. The pics in the manual aren't the best.... but, I am not seeing a bearing on the outer axle stub...... just the seal.

Right. Just a seal on the outer part of CAD. The needle bearing is on the inner or left side of CAD. The intermediate shaft has to come out to replace it. That is where the large one goes. I bet if you grab the end of the intermediate shaft with your fingers it will wobble up and down. The smaller bushing, goes in the end of the outer shaft where it mates to the pin on the inner shaft. And no auto parts store will carry either.

EDIT this picture shows where the larger one goes.

OK I've been looking at these pictures, and don't see "where the large one goes", so please help.

Seal you can buy at an auto supply store
Shift collar I still have
Shift fork is attached to the CAD housing
The bearing (which I need to replace)

So then where does the "large one go"?

hot damn... they want $154 for that bearing at the dealership... WTF?

Thinking about just sticking the old axle gasket in place of the bearing and hoping that s sufficient...

OK so based on what I can understand about the quad4x4.com - I can buy the bearing from them for the 2500/3500 because its "dimensionally" the same, so that should work, right?

Or is this "bushing" set for the 1500s something you can use INSTEAD of the bearings that came stock?

I also don't have one of these small bushings in my axle. That may be why my seal and Ujoints went to hell? Anyway, if someone can tell me where both of them go, and if they'll do what you need, I'll order them today.

Thanks
