im pretty sure you can fit 4.88's in the 9.25. but in all seriousness. you are going to want to upgrade your axles...that d44 up front is not going to like those 38's too much. hope you have plenty of money because if you dont upgrade you will be replacing ball joints and wheel bearings quite often. steering will be on the weak side as well and may give out trying to turn those 38's.

the D44 is made to withstand up to 35in. tires, they can pull 38's but you'll be frequently breaking parts.

chances are you have 3.55 gears, unless you got lucky and got 3.92's in them....should be a tag on the diff cover...if it says 39, its 3.92's if it says 35 then its 3.55

You can fit 5.16's in the rear end im pretty sure....D44 can only take 4.88's....

get a complete D60 front axle (search http://car-part.com ) you can find them cheap....i found 1 in my area with 4.10 gears, 119K for 350 bucks. thats the complete front axle assembly.....

dont run 38's on the D44, you're asking for problems.

Yes. I run the matching D60 front and D70 rear running 4.10's in my offroad truck. I need more gearing for my needs but what I have does OK for now. I'm running 39.5" IROKS. You don't want to run 8 lug front with a 9.25 rear, you'll have a hell of a time finding matching wheels at a decent price. Find a wrecked 2500 and take the matching set. They are beasts!!
