Default Shock Recommendations for 2WD?

Hi,

Any recommendation on shocks for a 2WD truck? I am not going to off-road it or tow much of anything with it, so not looking for anything fancy or really high-end.

Just buy a set of basic Monroes or Gabriels from Rock Auto?

Pretty much LOL, you can even walk into Advanced or Autozone and pick up those same shocks for around the same price and not have to pay shipping.

OK, so I didn't think that one through all the way WRT shipping But I do have a 5% coupon off at Rock Auto and was looking to use it. Not to mention no sales tax. Still for $30 each or so, it wouldn't save all that much over the local price.

Amazon has these at about the same price and free shipping and no tax.

And to be filed under the "now I've seen just about everything" category, you can now get camouflaged shocks:

Any thoughts on the Monroe Sensa-Trac vs. Reflex?

The descriptions seem pretty much identical.

I've never seen camo shocks either haha.

I have had the Monroe Sensa Tracs and they were pretty good for the price. They are very plush, almost too plush. But if you want a nice soft ride, definitely go with the Sensa-Tracs. They just didn't fit the bill for me, I was going for more of a stiff sport truck feel so I went with Bilsteins. Speaking of which, I also had some Gabriel Ultra's for a while, they seemed to do well, but were even stiffer than my Bilsteins, I mean it was harsh, and you could also feel the top shock mounts rattle which really bothered me.

Thanks RamSport!

I decided to go with the Sensa-Tracs. Amazon.com has them for less than Rock Auto, free shipping, no tax. The fronts were about the same price, but rears $10 less per shock.

Part numbers were:

Monroe 37103 Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber (rear)
Monroe 37102 Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber (front)

If you aren't towing, go with whatever is cheapest locally. Keep your money local, do your local economy a favor!

Good deal, seems like you will like them for what you are using the truck for. Make sure to tighten the lower shock bolts on the front to 100 ft./lbs.

The fronts were about $25 each; the rears about $35 each.

I will report back once I receive them and install.
