Changing the gearing?
It’s more complicated than that. You also should get a master install kit, which includes new seals, bearings, and shims. Make sure that the master install kit uses Timken bearings, they are a must. It’s always a good idea to replace the bearings when you have your rear-end tore down. You also have to adjust for pinion depth, pinion preload, backlash, and carrier bearing preload. You will need at least a dial indicator. I’ve done a few rear ends and it is something that can be done at home, but be ready to get frustrated.
