Chrysler nor my other tranny mechanic couldn't explain it either, the truck would surge when accelerating, the tranny shop noticed the gov pressure solenoid power was erradic. I replaced the pcm in the truck after the tranny shop re ran the wires to the tranny and changed valve body etc and nothing was the better still the surging. He said to take it to chrysler and maybe it was a programming issue with the pcm. Took it there they tryied to reprogam it and didn't work. They took the truck for a test drive with the diagnostic tool hooked up and noticed the surging, the truck started slipping on return to the dealership. Took the tranny out of the truck and opened it and the clutch packs were toast (they figured it was from the excessive surges). Installed new tranny and same surging. I called a tranny shop in Edmonton alberta to see what they had to say and they said they had one other dodge in that had the same problem and they unplugged the sim and plugged in the 02 sensor and it workd. Did that to mine and everything has been fine since. There is no reason why the sim would be acting on the tranny like that, no one could explain it, all I know is when it was unplugged the truck went back to normal.

I've thought about what could possibly cause such an issue since I read this last night.. the ONLY thing that I'm coming up with is some sort of (however unlikely) signal created by the sim device with interferes with signals sent to the tranny by the PCM...

those would have to be massively strong signals.. I still can't buy it.. magnetism, I can't by that.. Static charge- maybe, but there is no way it wouldn't ground on the chassis as the path of least resistance...

If those things were wired incorrectly, and were slaved into the wiring harness intended for the tranny, then there would be your issue.. that's the only thing I can come up with.

Ya its strange, none of the mechanics could figure it out either, it was plugged into hte wire harness for the rear o2 and the stock o2 sensor was disconnected and left in the tailpipe to plug the hole. All i know is that i would never recommend one to anyone after this experiance.
