Default '98 Cup Holder - How to reattach?

.
Okay, search did help, so here I am...

On the '98 we just bought, the cup holder was 'floppy' and we're trying to get it attached back to the dash properly. The black base piece that has screws in it, is all secured up, but the cup holder itself is not. It's attached in the midway point to the black piece that kinda folds as you open and close the unit, but I can't get the lower two points to snap back in to their spots. Looking at it, it seems like they would just snap in, but they're not playing nicely. Maybe someone can breakdown all of the cup holder removal steps, and I can see what I need to do.

I can only speak for the 3500 dually I own as I am dealing with a problem with my cup holder. On my truck, you have to take the dash off (push locks), remembering to take the screw out from the auxilliary power head (Laramie only?) first. There are two screws hidden under the dash, which act as supports for the assembly. With these out, the unit should be easy to remove or attach. If the actual cup holder is just loose, as in mine, it't probably the support assemblk which should be intact in the middle of the assembly. It shold pivot out and in, maintaining contact with the main swinging body, and give support to the refreshing beverage of choice...

Ours ended up being the back plastic plate piece that screws into the dash. Where the pivot pieces snap in to it... it was busted slightly. Of course, the cupholder only comes as a whole assembly. $78 bucks later, and we have a working cupholder again.

I tell you, $78 doesn't sound that bad right now. I was watching a used assembly (wrong color, planned to take guts out & put into mine) on Ebay and it went for $63 plus $10 shipping!

I can't find a replacement at a junkyard, so I just may have my buddy (auto shop owner) order one from the dealership (20% discount!).
