Default From 35" MTs to 285 ATs

Well, our tire shopping is finished. We swapped out the tired rougher-riding 35" Mickey Thompsons, for a set of 285/75R16 BFG AT KOs. Hopefully the rig didn't loose any cool points, but the new rubber is a nicer ride and more practical for a tow-rig. Plus, no more rubbing sounds. Here's before and after pics....

hehe

Im a mickey thompson fan myself. That old tire was kinda useless in my opinion. I had some years ago and the baja belted ones never got a good bite in the mud or slick grass. The best tire for true grip (and tearing up the trail) in there line up is the baja claw. Had a pair on a 2wd truck and it kept up the the 4x4 crowd with no problem... Now that I have a new to me dodge 4x4 Im going to replace the tires on there now with baja claws. Lots of people buy the tires you have on now and I hear very few complaints. So I guess thats a good thing. As stupid as this sounds ... My only reason for not buying a set of BF's is everybody does have them and I like my truck to be alittle different. Anyhow for your uses I dont think you lost any cool points.

Looks good. I just put a set of the same tires on mine, only for a 17" rim.

So far, I really like them. Haven't had them off-road yet, but on dry and wet pavement, they have performed well. Also like the D rating for laods and towing.

new tires look awesome, how much lift does your truck have again?

speaking of tires... had a chance to drive my truck with the new Toyo Open Countries in the rain... yeah it rained here in "sunny" CA lol... tires rocked! sure footed and not even a hint of hydroplaning up to 70~cough 80 braking was as expected, not the greatest (brakes need work) but the tires gripped pretty good slowing down.

No lift (that I'm aware of). It does have that factory installed 'Snow Plow Prep Group', which I'm told put "the beefiest coils Chysler makes" up front. <--- (Service counter quote). Whatever that means. I think it levels the front with the rear or something. May be how it had 35"s on it.

I'll have to snap some pics of the suspension with the wheels pulled, for you all to judge. I'm still new to these rigs, and everything is black underneath... not obvious lift parts. I've got two lifted jeeps, so I know lift kits, but not sure what comes on Rams stock. Front coils still have the factory sticker with part numbers on them though.

It sits about like my buds 2500. He runs 35s on it with no lift so its possible that you dont have any lift under it. None the less it looks great.

Okay, while taking a look at our rear brakes, I snapped this pic of the rear suspension. Maybe it will help clear up the lift/no lift debate. Everything looks factory to me, but like I said... I'm a noobie with no past vehicle history records. It's a 2500 w/ 60s F&R and the factory snow plow prep group (but I think that only dealt with the front coils). I'll get a pic of the front later.

Wow, that looks pretty big. My 01 has the off-road package and the block measures 3 1/2", yours looks more like 5" so I am pretty sure yours has been lifted.
