Default how to remove fan clutch

i was going to put me e fans on today but i went to the auto parts store and rented a fan clutch removal tool... i couldnt even figure out how it was supposed to work...how do i keep my pully from turning also do i losen clockwise or counter clockwise

counter clockwise..... I used a piece of 3/4" flat bar and drilled 2 holes in it . Placed 2 bolts though the flat bar and through the holes in the pully in order to hold it in place . I then put a long pipe on it for leverage and a wrench on the nut and give it a really hard quick jolt....it actually came off fairly easy , but maybe i just got lucky . Good luck .

did u place bolt trough the pulley then another through the alternator bracket or what...cause that was my idea

I'm sure you could make that work.....but from what i remember i used 2 hole in the pully itself . an it was actually a piece of angle Iron i had laying around....1/2" x 1/2" .

Rubber strap wrench on the pulley works pretty good, wedge against frame (I think) big crescent, breaker bar and she'll slip right off. No problems.

Never thought of the strap wrench. That would work too ... you'll be fine....you'll get it off .

what size is the bolt i am using a crescent wrench but she is kinda wollered out...i figure i will buy a wrench that will fit so i dont strip it and ruin my chances

An air hammer with a chisel or pointed tip works best. Barring that, a piece of metal stock sharpened to a chisel tip or point that is long enough to contact the nut and hit the top with a hammer. Much faster, mush less likely to result in skinned knuckles. For reinstalling, just thread it on about 2 turns and start the engine. It'll self-tighten.
