Exhaust and MPG
Actually read my first post ^^^, plus i started the thread with a title of "Exhaust and MPG" so I can ask about other mufflers.
I had a Flowmaster 50HD on my truck for a couple of years, felt a bit more low end torque but lost a little bit of fuel economy which is indicative of a RESTRICTIVE muffler. The feeling of slightly more low end is the inefficiency of backpressure.
Pulled the FM50 and was shocked to find the top of the muffler looked like swiss cheese, obviously condensation forms on the top of the inside of the muffler and eats thru the top.
I run the Cherry Bomb Extreme now, and love the sound. The annoying drone I got in the cab from about 1800 rpm to 2600 rpm is GONE. Also, most FM mufflers have a flow rate of around 350 cfm, which is WORSE than the stock muffler. The Extreme is around 500 cfm. Better flow, more efficiency, better fuel economy.
Only problem is, I LOVE the sound of the CB Extreme, especially with my LT headers when I get on it, so I don't see the gas mileage improvement!!!
