Default looking to swap trans from an 01 to an 01, how tdo I make sure its the same?

I have an 01 Ram 1500 Sport 5.9l 4wd and I need a trans. I found a guy whos selling me a trans from his 01 Ram 1500 SLT 5.9l 4wd that had a recent rebuild, the trans is still in the car so im going to take it for a spin and make sure it shifts good, some people on here say that even some 01s might not fit my 01, is that true? Its pretty much the same truck just NOT sport which obviously doesn't make a difference, how do I check to make sure the trans is the same before I buy it? TIA

They are the same. They are both 46re transmissions and since they are both 4x4 it will bolt right up.

How about the wiring and electrical plugs, all identical?

Yes. Sport vs SLT is just an appearance package, it has nothing to do with the drive line.

^what Sheriff said....since its the same year you have no worries........now if you were swapping a 97 trans into it, that would be a different story....

+2. Same model year, same engines, you should be golden. The only huge variance in trims was the rare Off Road edition, but even if one of you has that with hiked up gears and a limited slip differential, the transmission was the same. The Sport was just an appearance package, nothing like the Off Road edition.
