360 for torque and mileage?
Under drive power wise is great on my truck, truck always stays cool, steerting is a little little tougher not much throw
u just run a crank pully the alt pully they come with are bigger and slow down the alt more

If you do get the 360, make sure you put the mechanical fan on it, not the electric fan, and a very big and good transmission cooler. Otherwise with that mechanical fan you are just asking to kill your transmission from it overheating with 6500 pounds.
Hell i would put a good tranny cooler in the 318 right now before you burn up your current transmission. Assuming you dont have one.. And i dont mean a tiny one i mean a big one. 6500 pounds is the max i belive

thanks for the suggestions candyman but my current setup has been tested with nothing short of good results. it is a 5 spd manual so not much to worry about on heat there. Would be very interested in advise from any one running electric fan setup with manual and towing similar weight. if no one has solid fail info on this I will prob. still try it and watch it very close. the stock fan will be on stand by and of course will share results. this project is roughly scheduled to take a year so hang in for the info. may get around to the fan with the 318 sooner?
thanks and keep it coming, the motors are torn down, ready for massage, cleaning, machining as needed then I will be ready to order rings-bearings, cam, tb, roller rockers etc.
this is the perfect time to determine all the ingredients to have a successfull result from this.
I apreciate the input

The NV3500 and 5.9L combo never came from the factory, the 5.9L got the NV4500 but only in HD trucks. I would be a little worried about this tranny behind a 5.9L built for torque but you might as well try it and see how long it lasts. If it doesn't put an NV4500 in.
I am taking note of that and considering my options. a 6 speed would be very cool any ideas-input, cost guess?
my budget is limeted but time could buy options as my truck is pretty solid at the moment.
thanks for the concerns.

WAY TOO Much my friend. Sorry but I could never afford to pay some one to do what I am to this thing. I have over 8 hours into it and it is no where near done. these thing have soo many nooks-cranny and surface flaws. May I suggest you get a dremel tool and polishing attachments and hit it a little at a time. you will get the exact results you want and the pride of it being your part. or you could get your wife to do it like I do, he he. she is a good sport but very expensive and still have to do most of it myself, its just not fun work. I could be wrong but am thinking this is a very important step of getting a very good flowing responsive motor.
