Default Oil Leak

I just purchased a 1996 Ram 3500, diesel, 5 speed. I has 377000 miles runs like a top plenty of power good mileage (15.3 on the 1st road trip pulling a car hauling trailer) My 1st concern is that I have a very severe oil leak. 10 qts in 800 miles? I cleaned the motor of all the oil, started it up and left it run, did not seem to leak until motor warmed up the started dripping. I am thinking maybe the front seal on the harmonic balancer, when the motor warms up the the sael does not hold, does this sound reasonable or should I look for something else?
Thanks

welcome to df. most everyone over here in 2nd gen is a gas burner and we can't even spell dizel. you'll have better luck reposting in the dizel section. lol.

check into the 53 block that's prone to crack. i don't know if its a coolant leak or an oil leak.
