How do I go about checking the canister? Visually I can't tell if its working or not, or clogged or filled with gasoline??

Remove it, and check all the hoses. If any are clogged with carbon 'pebbles', its screwed. Also, check for obviously broken parts.....

Ran a can of Seafoam through the intake, and pulled and scrubbed the IAC valve. Truck is idiling much much better now. Didn't stall once! I'm still waiting for the purge soleniod valve I ordered. I really hope that clears that damn code (it came back). If not I guess I'll be pulling and inspecting the canister.

On a side note I also fixed my "brake lights always on problem".
