SO, did you just simply slide the pads out on the axle a few inches and use half ton springs (2 1/2"), or did you completely change the upper mounts for 3" springs?

no i just moved the perches bc i wanted to use my springs bc they are my lift springs. i could have changed the shackles and everything and used the 3" springs, i have them in my garage, but then i would have to beef them up alot alot and block them up and try to get it back level which would have been a pain in the ***

they only had to be moved 1/4 inch each. and also i "rolled" them on the axle a touch to get a better pinion angle since i have such a lift

Ok, yeah that totally makes sense. But, for some reason it was sounding to me like you swapped everything out for 3" springs... I was just thinking that would have been crazy!

Great job man! What gears you got in the 60's? Any traction aids? Do you have any plans on swapping out the hubs for selectable units?

well i have 3 sets of gears in my garage for these axles, 4.10, 4.56, and 4.88, right now i have the 4.56's in the truck. i am trying each of them for a bit to see which one im gonna like the most and want to keep in there for permanent. once i fig that out i am going to lock both axles for sure.

As far as changing the hubs....im not sure yet. i would like to just eliminate the front CAD unit all together and just put in a steel cable to the cab for now, but maybe down the road ill switch out hubs.

I would recommend skipping the cable operating deal and just remove it all. Plug the vacuum lines, put a blank cover plate over the CAD opening on the axle, and slide in a solid passenger side axle shaft... be done with it. That CAD idea is just completely stupid, especially for a wheeler. No sense in band-aiding it with a slightly better cable operating system... just get rid of it.

Nope, completely take the entire assembly out (fork, collar, and two piece shaft), and replace it with a solid shaft. Heres a link to the EMS kit http://www.emsoffroad.com/store/inde...roducts_id=351

It wont be in 4 wheel drive unless you lock the transfer case in. Only difference is you front shaft will always be spinning in 2wd... but who cares, it no different than my 06, no CAD and no lockouts.

If you got a problem with money burning a hole in your pocket, you could upgrade to the 35 spline shafts at this time, and then down the road when you swap to lockouts you will have a very strong axle.
