Default 4 cracked heads WTF

prepping the 360 for 318-360 trans plant. sent the heads out for mag. etc. and they tell me they are both cracked in several places each. so thinken Im smart I tell them I have another set and will brake em down and bring em down asap.
that set is cracked too. huh?
any one ever welded heads? what kind of wire would one use on cast iron?
this is a budget build so $700 in heads just isnt in the plan.

open for ideas

NEVER weld heads in the combustion chamber. It just doesn't end well.

Unfortunately, the stock heads are VERY prone to cracking. (as you have noticed....) You could try getting some junkyard (used) heads, and see how your luck goes there....

I just went through the same thing two sets of heads all of them cracked. If you go on Ebay there is a place out of Florida, Odessa Cylinder heads that sells remand or new after market heads for around $500. They also have fast shipping and a decent warranty. The ones I bought were new complete for $540 to the door.

Nope, previous owner did it for some reason. It was originally a diesel.

no unique. a kali truck? used to be an old hot rod trick to stay out of emission check and be able to mod your motor.
thanks for the info. 250 a head sounds way reasonable.

Nope, New York truck. The person that built it used a 96, everything is OBD2 and since the title reads 95 there is no emissions like you said.

You can get reman heads a little cheaper but I would guess they were cracked and welded so I went for the new. Good Luck.
