Default Cab air temp control

Recently I noticed that I could only get hot air or cold air with nothing inbetween. I have searched for the problem and read lots of posts without finding a fix for my situation.

About the same time this started I got the "wild vents" and just figured it somehow controlled temp also. However I fixed the check in my vacuum line so the wild vents are gone but I still can only get very hot or very cold air out of the vents.

I thought of the little plastic piece in the actuator motor and getting the kit from heatertreater.com, but I am not sure that will solve the problem....

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the little coupler feller is indeed your problem. It may not be completely broken yet, but, it is probably close. You can pull the little motor that controls the temp door, and have a look. Might tell the whole tale right there.

Supposedly, that guy is on the passenger side bottom of the heater box, close to the trans tunnel. Two screws, and an electrical connector. The screw by the firewall is fun to get, some folks have carved away a bit of carpet to make it easier to get to.

The ac/heater doors reset/regulate/ themselves after every 30 times the car is started. I wish I could remember the rest of the information that may account for this.

P.S I'M A NEW MEMBER. HOW TO YOU POST A MESSAGE?

I went ahead and ordered the interposter from heatertreater.net. When I get it I will take the blend door motor to see what is up. If its the motor then I will go into town and get a new one, if its the interposter then I will already have it ready to go.

yes, problem was solved by heatertreater. The plastic, interposter?, was broken but I guess it was on there enough where I could get all hot or all cold.

Thanks dragon man, I guess I just figured he would get it by reading the heatertreater.net thread. Oh and I did end up pulling the carpet back and cutting the pad.
