94 Ram 1500 Crankcase fills up
[QUOTE=
I am curious how he even got the diesel fuel in there, the nozzle on diesel pumps won't (shouldn't) physically fit in the fill tube.[/QUOTE]
Thats probably why he only pumped in 10 gallons! - couldn't figure how to keep it from spilling out!

I am wondering if the diesel messed up the injectors such that they are leaking a lot of extra fuel into the cylinders and it is running past the rings into the crankcase?
Are you getting a lot of smoke? If so what color? If this is coolant-related then I would expect white smoke (depending on where a leak developed). If it is leaking at the rate you mentioned, this would be clearly visible in the coolant level, tho.

i put diesel in my old chevy one time, and had it about half full before i noticed. i did the same thing you did and topped it off with premium and just drove on. it actually ran fine.
i did not get any crankcase drain or oil level increase...
but, you've got a problem and should not run the engine with oil that might be thinned down by diesel. as said it will be clean, and its probably ok at idle speed, but i wouldn't want to run it at higher rpm's with improper oil.
can you just siphon it out ?

Ok, did some math here, just for fun. A quart is 32 ounces, right? So after 80 miles, he found 4 quarts or 128 ounces extra in the crankcase. 128 ounces / 80 miles equals 1.6 ounces of diesel leaking past the rings per mile. 1.6 ounces / 8 cylinders equals .2 ounces per cylinder per mile of diesel leaking past rings. I don't see how that's so improbable. To the OP, any update after getting the diesel out?
Ok. I drained the tank and filled with fresh gasoline and changed the oil. Only driven it 40 miles since but problem seems to be gone. Engine runs smooth with plenty of power. I will update after a 100 miles or so and let everyone know the results.
