Default Grinding noise?

959595 dodge 318 four wheel drive. Grinding noise from the rear axle I believe. But it only happens in two wheel. When in four wheel it only grinds once in a while. I believe its rear axle. Any ideas

put it up on four jackstands, and run it. Isolate where the noise is coming from. (BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL, rotating parts will grab ahold, and are NOT very forgiving. DO NOT DO THIS BY YOURSELF.)
