Excited about a CEL!!!
I have to share. It's late. I'm bored but not ready for bed.
The CEL came on in my truck today. I know it sounds sick but I was excited! I bought an ODBI/II scanner this past summer but never got the chance to use it (my town forced me to remove the 2 cars I planned to use it on because I had an "illegal junkyard"). I used it on my 1988 RV but I had already gotten the codes by shorting the pins... no fun there.
Anyway... I happily ran down to my workshop. Grabbed the scanner, popped the batteries in, and ran outside.
Cylinder 8 misfire!!!
Because I plan to do the intake manifold along with the major tuneup in the spring (and I don't drive it much), I'm not worried. Of course the "fix broken part then another part breaks" cycle is officially under way because I just replaced the fuel filler neck and pocket last week.
I'm thinking I'll have to make myself a redneck garage with PVC pipe and a large tarp!

The whole "fix one thing, and the next thing breaks" can also work FOR you..... I generally fix things until something breaks that I don't care about, then, I DON'T fix it..... end of cycle.
