Default Carbon/charcoal in vaccum lines

Truck check engine light comes on and says p0441 code. I replaced the evap purge valve on the driver's side of the intake, but the cel light came back on. There is charcoal in the vaccuum lines. Does that mean the filter went in the evap cannister? If so how do I open it to put a new filter in it. I got one from advance auto parts today.

I didn't know you could open them. If you can open it, don't forget to blow the hoses out, and the new solenoid might be full of it again.

little pellets of charcoal in the lines are an indication that the canister is ruptured. as zman said, you'll need to blow all that stuff out of all the lines that it has gotten into.

its critical to keep the charcoal of of the catalytic converter, or it'll be the next failure. a buddy with a 1st gen started with a ruptured canister, went to a half stopped up carb, and then a fully stopped up cat.

i also didn't know you open them, but if its already ruptured, you can do no additional harm, so find a place and slice it open.

Mine ruptured and like the other members said I blew out the lines. Had pellets well packed clogging them. New canister, solenoid, reset CEL, and back on the road.

Where did you buy your cannister at? I can't find one anywhere online or at the parts stores. I did find a TSB on it and said it was bad for the motor.

Btw Demoes4x, what speed does your motor turn at about 65 on the highway in overdrive with the 4.56's? I'm pondering between 4.10's and 4.56's with my 35's
