idle air speed p0505

Default idle air speed p0505

hey i pulled my valve covers and intake mani because i had an oil leak in the back of the motor, everything is back together but im getting the P0505 idle air speed code and it seems a little slugish, any ideas??

Make sure it is plugged in good, and the wires aren't pinched anywhere.

Also, check the grounds at the front of the motor, by the power steering pump.

check all my connections again, nothing is unplugged or anything, code keeps coming up

Check that the connections at the IAC motor are clean then. If you haven't already, pull the throttle body, then take off the IAC, clean all the passages, reassemble. if that doesn't help, might end up replacing the IAC.

everything was fine before i pulled the intake, so i think something got effed up, would it have anything to do with a cracked vacuum hose? or is that specific to the IAC? i dont even know what the idle air speed motor control is

little feller screwed onto the back of the throttle body. One electrical connector. (four wire)

All it is is a stepper motor with a "plug" on the end. (more like a cork) When the throttle is closed (engine idling.) the motor moves the pintle in and out to control idle speed. All it does is regulate the amount of air allow to "leak" around the throttle plates. have a look. Its there, you can even see it without taking off the air cleaner housing. (assuming stock)
