give this a look-see.. I too have Cali, and I went true duals VERY easy.. pics included in the thread.. I used two magna flow high flow cats ($60ea), and a magna flow true x muffler ($80)... I couldn't be happier.. that Y pipe sucks hugely man..

you having Cali emissions makes it really easy for you to go true dual.. and still be legal as can be.. I wouldn't have a single issue passing a cali pipe-bagged test right now I'm sure.

With twice pipes, you wouldn't pass in CA. The CA test is not just the pollutants at the exhaust pipe. It's also about having EVERY piece of original equipment provided by the manufacturer. Every (and I mean Every) modification to your intake, exhaust or emissions control systems is illegal (unless it has the CARB approval sticker).

True duals would not allow you to run both sides of your exhaust through that single cat downstream. Even if the cat is not monitored, you still have to have it and it must function in the way the manufacturer designed it to run.

You can't even put on an aftermarket air cleaner unless it has the CA Air Resources Board exemption! They check for all that stuff during the smog test (every two years). Every single upgrade we do here must be researched to ensure CARB has approved of it. It sucks.

^I found that gif creepy when I first saw it years ago, and I still do to this day.

Around here you can do whatever you want with your truck as long as it passes emissions and safety...

On a non-related note, how hard is it to replace exhaust clamps?

I couldn't have said it better than that! I agree with you 100%. I'm counting the minutes until I can move to the real world.

And... that video is awsome.
