We are talking about a manual tranny not an automatic. You'll still be on your back under the truck to do a lot of the work. And the OP is saying to just pull the motor forward, not pulling it out. So alot of the work will be done by reaching over the back of the motor and upside down. Good luck. I'd like to know how this works out as well.

Zman I have yet to figure out how to remove the transmission without first removing the the bell housing bolts from the engine.

I believe that I'm going to be miserable tomorrow either way I go but not wanting to replace the kegger and if I can't figure a really good way to hook on the engine with out removing a lot of stuff it's going to be laying on the ground all day for me. I was not really planning to pull the engine all the way out just forward enough to get at the clutch Assy.

See, pulling it forward aint gonna get it bud. You can unbolt the tranny from the bell housing first, then you'll have easy access to the bell housing bolts.
