Not sure what you mean when you say it "floods out". I don't associate that with fuel-injected engines. What are the symptoms that you attribute to flooding? Is there a strong smell of gasoline, or are other things going on?

I had a problem with my '94 318 a few weeks ago that might remotely be called "flooding". The distributor cap had carbon build-up inside it that was causing arcing and a no-start situation. I fixed the cap, but by then the plugs were soaked with gas and wouldn't fire. New plugs, vroom. Maybe I could have dried them out, but at $1.77 each I just replaced them.

Rule out all of the simple things first; plugs, cap, rotor, wires. Check for spark if you know how, post again if you don't.

floods out like strong gas smell, backfired once and blew the muffler apart.

Possible coolant temp sensor. Or, a bad connection there.

Worn plugs?

You are using champions, aren't you.

floods out as in an injector(s) leaking into cylinders?
or might it be out of time?
