Question Question

i have a question. i currently have a 1996 dodge 1500 4*4 with 16in stock rims and some decent tires. i found a set of black 16*10in rims and i was wondering if i would switch out my stock rims for my new rims would this cause a transmission issue? and getting a little wider tires.? and comments or experiences would be helpful. also if i wonted big tires would i need new axle.

its not gonnna cause a transmission issue as much as it will wear out other parts on a D44 axle, like wheel bearings, and ball joints. it really depends on the offset of the rims and the size tire. i wouldnt reccomend going passed at 35" (roughly a 315/75/16) on a 1500 axle, its just not strong enough to hold up in the long run.
Also if your considering larger sized tires, you may want to consider regearing your axles to a lower ratio to get your low end torque back, also it will put less stress on the trans. Depending on the offset of the rims your also gonna need a set of fender flares. take a look at my truck, i did the d60 swap (8 lug), and have 16x10 rims on it with a huge offset, and my tires stick out almost 7 inches.
