Default Strange Electrical Problems

So one evening I went out to drive somewhere and I flip the headlights on, but nothing happens. I pull the switch for fog lamps and nothing. I get out to inspect and notice that my tail lights are on like normal... so i get back in the truck because its cold as hell here and test the high beams, which magically work. I briefly consider driving with high beams, but then say screw it and cut them off. When I cut them off, back to normal mode, my regular lamps kick on like nothing happended. Its been fine for a week but the fog lamps still don't come on... ideas?

Check the wiring in the steering column. If it has tilt the wires wear and break. Had major problems with mine. Lights stopped working and eventually it would shut the truck off when you put the steering wheel down. Had to splice and solder the whole harness. Been fine since then.

The headlamp switch and/or multifunction switch are easy to replace. Only special thing required is a special tamper-proof or "secure" torx bit to get the steering column apart. Take at most a couple hours, and thats just for the most inexperienced mechanic at night with a flashlight (me when I first started doing my own repairs). Even less for the headlamp switch.
