I'd say don't.
If you move somewhere that requires emissions testing you'll be on the hook for a new cat. (Experience talking here.)
I found out mine had been gutted after failing Ontario's e-test.

If the rumble is that important to you, save up for a Magnaflow.

thanks for all the replies guys I saw in a thread on here that you can trick the o2 sensor I think im goin to say the heck with it and just save the money for the magnaflow

the universal cat for our truck is 80 bucks save for it its worth it 1. for the sounds and 2.for the added low end grunt.

when i took mine off i lost power but it was louder, loud gets old after a while

ha, No emissions in Wyoming, anywhere will straight pipe for you, just had my Dakota straight piped about a year ago because of my leaking cat.

Mine's been through several yearly inspections with a hollow cat, and it's easy to tell it's hollow cause the previous owner cut the side out of it and welded it back up

The code will most likely be P0420 Low Catalyst Efficency, I get it occasionally but if I don't clear it it will go away on its own after X number of drive cycles.... Doesn't affect the way the truck drives at all
