I've got two plenum gskt repairs to do.

I have a spare manifold for my 98 5.2 to enable a more efficient swap and am trying to locate a spare manifold for my sons 97 3.9.

Can anyone detail manifold interchangeabilty for the 3.9 litre engine? Will the manifold from any 3.9 magnum engine fit? Ram 1500 series with the 3.9 are uncommon around my area.

I'd stick with a 97 and up. 96 is probably the same but iffy, IMO.

 

Thanks for your input Zman. I've been phoning around the wreckers and according to one of them, the computer tells him the 97 manifold for both the Dakota and Rams is 97 only. He wasn't sure why. If that is the case, it seriously reduces my chance of finding one. Can anyone elaborate?

 

The manifolds from all years should mount the same and operate the same but may have different numbers and locations for sensors and older manifolds may have EGR. You just have to compare the current manifold to the new one.

 

you can also get a PLETHORA of intakes from 33.9 dakotas and even more....RAM VANS of the same year.

Boneyards are full of them!

Check this place out, I have been there and they have about 300 2ndgen daks, rams and vans in the boneyard. I saw them because I bought 2 of the round air cleaners with the scoops...converted it to a dual scoop round for functional ram air.
