96 ram vacumn problem

. Well 4wd vacumn switch has vacumn in one hole on it, lines of cad one of them has vacumn

Well when I got truck 4wd shifter wouldn't budge froze solid so me and a friend tore it apart and got that rod freed so itwill shift thru the gears.put it back in and transmission stopped shifting,and front axle won't lock in but remove cad and slide collar it will lock in 4wd got me puzzled if its vacumn and/or linkage any ideas on adjusting linkage

Need a bit of clarity here.....

Start the truck, check for vacuum at the cad housing. In 2wd, you should have vacuum on the outboard port. Shift the t-case to 4wd, you should now have vacuum at the inboard port. Does it work that way?

check your vac first. if you dont get any vac simply find the leak.

Which one is the outboard and which one is inboard

Sounds to me like the transfer case is in neutral.

Outboard: the one closest to the tire on the passenger side.

Inboard: The one furthest from the passenger tire.
