Shut the engine off when warm. Can you turn the fan by hand? Let the engine cool. Try and turn the fan again, hows it feel?

I returned one from autozone that did the same thing .. ( previous owner put on) I put up with it for about 4 weeks .it roared and when you drove it it wouldn't go away till it got up to temp. Then when you shut it off and it cooled down same thing again.. I went to the dealer and got the factory one it was only 50.00 more than a aftermarket ,but to me it was worth it.

So your oem one doesnt do it I take it? How much did you end up spending on it? I think the one I got from napa was like 80 bucks if I remember right.

when its cold it is sorta hard to turn. When its warm or after i drive it spins more freely.. But really doesnt matter if the engine is hot or cold it seems to do it about everytime after I shut the truck off and turn it back on..

The OEM one revs high for about 5 to 10 seconds when cold then no noise at all just like they sound from factory ..

The old one from autozone roared for about 10 to 20 min. ( even when driving ) and then quieted down ..till you turned it off and the truck sat for a while then it was noisy all over again.

The OEM fan was 139.00 at the dealer , I'm glad I did it I found out the previous owner replaced it with a regular fan clutch and mine is the heavy duty

From reading in the ole summit catalog there is two kinds of fan clutches; Non Thermal: Operates at low speed;disengages at freeway speeds and , Thermal: Operates when engine temperature reguires.. do you know which one you got?
