new fan clutch from napa wont disengage
Instaled a new fan clutch and when its first started the fan runs full speed for about five mins.. Its really loud and obnoxious.. My old one never did this.. Just wondering if I got a bad clutch or what. Im about ready to put my old one back in.. Thanks for any help....
I returned one from autozone that did the same thing .. ( previous owner put on) I put up with it for about 4 weeks .it roared and when you drove it it wouldn't go away till it got up to temp. Then when you shut it off and it cooled down same thing again.. I went to the dealer and got the factory one it was only 50.00 more than a aftermarket ,but to me it was worth it.
Thanks, we farm so we have to have a nice big shop to work on things.. Exsp nice this time of year when its in the single digits..

when its cold it is sorta hard to turn. When its warm or after i drive it spins more freely.. But really doesnt matter if the engine is hot or cold it seems to do it about everytime after I shut the truck off and turn it back on..

The old one from autozone roared for about 10 to 20 min. ( even when driving ) and then quieted down ..till you turned it off and the truck sat for a while then it was noisy all over again.
The OEM fan was 139.00 at the dealer , I'm glad I did it I found out the previous owner replaced it with a regular fan clutch and mine is the heavy duty
