higher is better
ive been readin some old posts about lifts and heres what im thinkin of doin
alot of people have suggested pickin up a set of 3/4 ton springs from the junkyard<probably diesel b/c itll lift it about 3 inches instead of the 2 inches that the gas springs would give> and gettin a set of AAIs for the back
im not too concerned with keepin the smooth ride i have now with the stock suspension, i mean it is a truck, and i am strapped for cash so the big bucks id save goin this route is very appealing
any input? is this a good idea or am i totally screwing my truck over?

I have the 3/4 ton coils up front and it gave me about 2 1/2" of lift, then did the 2" blocks in the back so now the front is roughly 1~1 1/2" lower in the front compared to the rear and overall lifted 2+ inches...
my ride is rougher for sure, it handles better however than it did when it was stock.

edit: Oh yeah, another thing, I have RS9000's up front and the stock shocks in the rear, when I have the cover on the bed the ride improves quite a bit. I think the rear shocks are bottoming out which would contribute to the rough ride. Whenever there is some weight in the back, the ride improves significantly...

Steve, Just curious what setting you run on your Rancho 9000's. When I installed my front ones, I set them both to 4. So far, that feels pretty good for the highway and dips/speedbumps. Going up in the mountains soon, so will see how they feel off road.

its just a strict spring swap too right? take off and bolt on?
also what about the back? ill do the AALs AND springs? or just AAIs?

the fronts are easy, un-bolt the sway bar, jack it up and the spring will just about fall out, you might need to compress it a little (by hand, it's that loose) to get it out but its easy! but that is for a 4x4, not sure how your 2wd would go...
the backs, I didnt do mine, I had the shop that installed my side steps do it for $25 bux... (I didnt have enought time back then)...

I used to have them at 4 also but for the little woman, I set it to 1 (softest setting) so she keeps her innards where they belong [sm=bounceybounce.gif]
