Default 2000 Ram 1500 5.2L starting problems...

Sometimes when I go out to start my truck in the morning and there is dew out or its wet it idles really rough for a couple minutes then it levels off and runs fine all day. Only the first time I start it each morning it runs rough for a couple mins and has almost complete loss of power, then once you drive it for a second the power is restored and truck runs great. Anybody have any idea of what it can be?? I have changed the spark plug wires and that did nothing. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks so much ahead of time!
Ryan

Email replies?? Erm, not much experience with forums???? That isn't the idea here. If you don't want to come back and check your thread...... well, maybe it isn't that important to fix?

That said: Check your cap/rotor/wires. Probably accumulating some moisture, and misfiring.

Once again I'm sounding off in full agreement with HeyYou. It's usually moisture in the distributor cap, and usually with enough carbon tracking to warrant replacement of the cap and rotor.

But then I'm also in partial agreement with zman17: If the idle is relatively normal in the first minute or so after start-up then gets funky, check the condition of the wiring and connector of the pre-cat oxygen sensor because moisture in that connector will cause crappy running once the PCM goes closed loop and until the moisture is evaporated away by exhaust/transmission heat.

Idle is rough from the turn of the key so I will go with a new cap and rotor. Got the new ones sitting in front of me and I really appreciate the help guys. Will keep you posted

Thanks
