Default 1999 door locks

been a bad couple weeks, my 2.7 intrepid motor crapped out then my stratus trans lost 3rd, and no-one this board would answer a question I posted...

I hope the truck guys can help me. I'm borrowing a 1999 2500 and it has automatic door locks that I hate as does the owner. I don't have an owners manual and Mitchell on demand has no info on disabling. I know my old minivan was cycle the key 4x and push the door lock switch to lock to cycle between auto on/off

I tried this on the truck, no luck. anyone have an owners manual that could post or PM me the proceedure? my closest dodge dealer is an hr away, and I'd hate bother them.

According to the service manual this can only be changed with a DRB III scan tool on all vehicles except caravan and town and country (those can be set using button pushes), it's a preference set by the dealer at time of purchase

Default Door locks

Same issue with my recently purchased 99 2500. Owners manual instructs: Do the 4 time off /on key cycle with the doors closed, activate the door lock, listen for the beep. With all the other beeps and buzzers and warnings from turning on the key I never could hear the beep but after the third try it worked. Good luck.

now I'm confused. One of you said I can only have this done at the dealer with a DRBIII and the other says the 4 key cycle is the method. which way is CORRECT?

i tried the 4 key deal and it didn't work am I suppose to lock or unlock and is the sequence ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON?

How is that comment going to help me? You have a truck like what I'm driving, do you have an owners manual? If so can you look in it and see if you can help me? If not, then why clutter the post?

Cycle the ignition 4 times without starting the truck - leaving it in the "on" position on the 4th cycle. Lock the doors using the lock switch and you should receive 1 "ding" chime (the same one you get multiple times on startup). Start the truck and drive it away.

I hope it works for you and I apologize if I was wrong, I just read what I posted right out of the service manual, but it's the one on this site and it is for the 2001 model, so 99 could be different

What is the purpose of useless posts to my question?

Addendum. I see the moderators got rid of the dumb posts on this topic. So, my above statement has no relevance. Thanks mods!
