Default automatic to manual conversion

Sorry for reposting this with a different title... I figured maybe more people would look at I guess... but I'm thinking about doing the conversion to my truck... I have to chance to buy everything I need.... I just need an idea of all the parts I need to take off of the other truck and what kind of price I should offer.... like what would it be worth??

My truck is a 5.9l automatic... the previous owner told me that the tranny might be weak... everything else I own is a stick... so I decided that I wanted to convert the truck to a stick... I found a guy that is parting out a 96 5.9l 5spd... he said I could have everything I need for the conversion.. and he wants me to make a price... question is... other than the tranny, clutch and presure plate, transfer case, drive shaft, computer, pedels, and clutch linkage... is there anything else I need??... and what would be a decent offer to make the guy

personally, i would save myself the TROUBLE AND HASSLE and just buy a built auto.

the aftermarket has found ways to make these transmissions bulletproof, it will likely be cheaper as well, not to mention it does away with the headache of ALL that modification. have a look at PATC's mega viper

Also need the engine/trans wiring harness. Probably a bunch of other little parts as well..... (you always forget something.....) Need to know the years of both trucks as well.

Is the donor truck a 3/4 ton? Is yours? Makes a difference.......

Won't work. 94 is OBDI, 96 is OBDII. Or rather.... It CAN be done.... but, there is going to be a LOT of work involved....... probably some repinning of connectors, etc. Not sure if there are differences in how the two different system run the instrument cluster either.....

On page six of MonteC's trans thread, in the FAQ section, he gives a list of recommended parts for another member that regularly tows a 7K pound trailer. If you went with that build, your trans would be basically bulletproof. Close to a grand just in parts though.......
