Hi all, I have a 1996 dodge Ram 2500 V8 gas truck, I would like to give you the symptoms and hopefully you can help me.because if I can get an idea of where to start I can fix it. The truck first use to need u the let go of the gas (rpms high) to shift into gear when u hit 60+km then it would vibrate unless I hit the overdrive then the rpms would go just over 2000 and then the vibration would stop. It still does this but now it's doing the high rpms , have to let go of gas like I am driving a standard even though it's and automatic and it's still hard shifting at 40km 60km and just over 90km if I recall. Additional info ..tires are balanced etc.what I see is some oil leakage from rear diff...where the transfer case attaches to the tranny you can see oil spray on the underbody of the truck..and yes there is a small amount coming out where the drive shafts meets. Have any questions for me feel free to ask away.

I am assumn automatic transmission. Check TV cable adjustment. THat may be contributing to the shifting problem.

Also, need to find the problem that is causing the "what I see is some oil leakage from rear diff...where the transfer case attaches to the tranny you can see oil spray on the underbody of the truck" problem. This is a little confusing.

The differential leak is not related, but it should be fixed as well. Running those gears dry will shell them out. The tranny/transfer case leak could also impact shifting, as fluid level may be low. But this leak needs to be fixedto keep tranny and/xfer case from damage.

So I suggest checking theTV cable first, and check fluid level. Then see where the leak is comeing from at tranny and xfer case and fix it. See if problem goes away.

Vibration may be ujoints on drive shaft. WIth truck in park, twist driveshaft and see if the joints have any play in them.
